Full Festival Description:  MISSION The International Black DocuFest's (IBDF) mission it to create a dynamic forum devoted to showcasing the most innovative and compelling documentary films on the lives of people of Africa and its diaspora. This cutting-edge film experience will reinvigorate black documentary film as an edifying medium for social discourse. The only film festival of its kind, IBDF strives to spotlight independent documentary filmmakers by connecting them with audiences and industry professionals alike; and promoting documentary film as a viable genre. Through a series of screenings and facilitated discussions, IBDF will explore the creative ways in which documentaries capture and chronicle the diverse experiences of black life from around the globe. FESTIVAL INFORMATION The first annual International Black DocuFest ™ will take place September 13th – 15th, 2007 at Atlanta’s celebrated High Museum of Art. There is no cost to attend the festival. Festival activities will include: -Opening & closing ceremonies -Panel discussions and Q&A’s on documentary film works -Filmmaker’s awards presentation -Live musical performances -Documentary screenings -Networking mixers -Access to select art galleries FESTIVAL SUBMISSION The International Black DocuFest ™ is now accepting film and video submissions for the 2007 festival schedule. This is a juried festival for documentary filmmakers worldwide. Students and professionals all welcome. The early submission deadline is February 15th, 2007 and submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis until the final submission deadline of May 1st, 2007. The festival entry fee is $20 (US). If you are interested in submitting your documentary, please download the official IBDF submission form from our website for further instructions. A representative will contact you once your materials have been received.
