The Red Baron
Description:
The Red Baron

Baron Manfred von Richthofen downed 80 Allied planes during the First World War, a record unequaled in the annals of military aviation. Rare film footage of his daring exploits and personal interviews with the last surviving pilots who flew with him and against him make this an especially compelling video portrait. Includes spectacular World War I dogfight footage and the first aerial photography of bombings

Release Date: 1988

Pros: The origional footage and interviews.
Cons: Have to be interested in the subject matter.

great historical peice on an early ace of WWI. gives some insight into the "Red Baron" as a person and early aviation in combat. these planes were built of cloth and wood, but the pilots were made of steel. if early aviation is your thing this film delivers. The origional footage is great and helps to tell the story.

Pros: Actual WWI fighter pilots tell their stories.
Cons: A little dry at times.

This is a must see for anyone who wants to understand the character of the first of the flying aces. Footage of actual dogfights along with extensive narrative by the pilots who pioneered war in the skies put this documentary in a class of its own.
